Our Team

Soma Sarkar has worked extensively in the fields of education, development and communication in the last two decades. She has designed and implemented thematic integrated curriculum and was one of the first school leaders to initiate SOLE (Self Organised Learning Environment) and Granny Cloud in 2014. As part of School administration, she set up systems and processes to facilitate innovative, high impact teaching and learning.

Soma is an alumnus of Visva Bharati, Santiniketan and has a PhD in Cultural Studies from English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. She has published short stories with Penguin and other publications.

Hilde has a background in cultural anthropology and biomedical sciences. With more than 15 years of experience in working with people with brain damage, Hilde has built up expertise in various forms of (re)learning skills. She is a community builder with 10 years of experience in knowledge management and program management. Hilde is also a guest lecturer at the blockchain minor of The Hague University of Applied Sciences where she works with students on topics like the commons, community dividend and Basic Income.

Sarath Davala is an independent sociologist based in Hyderabad, India. He is currently the Chair of Basic Income Earth Network, and Coordinator of India Network for Basic Income. He is one of the foremost advocates of Basic Income in the world. He has worked with various NGOs across India and in several countries in the last 20 years. Prior to that, Sarath was Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He has several books and articles on labour issues, poverty and basic income.

Jayesh Deshmukh has trained in mechanical engineering and worked in the supply chain logistics sector. He has a keen interest in and likes to learn more about emerging technologies, products and ideas. A team-player, he is good at building collaborations, establishing networks and sustaining relationships.

Sustainability is one of Jayesh’s core areas of interest and he is working towards enabling organisations and manufacturing units to become environmentally responsible and sustainable.

Jayesh Deshmukh

Sheetal is an educator, environmentalist and entrepreneur. She runs a playschool, a soft skills institute and is actively involved in addressing environment issues in the fragile eco-system of the Western Ghats of India. She also runs a small women-oriented business in Wai, Maharashtra.
Before starting her ventures, Sheetal was a teacher of Mathematics and Science. She believes in making Math accessible and relatable to children and adults alike.
